The work that has been done for the following project has consisted in the identification of the different elements found in the multi-process plant that is located in the Control Laboratory of the Department of Systems Engineering and Automation, and the process of design and trial of different advanced control strategies for said plant. Thus, the following document can be divided in three main parts that are differentiated from one another. First, a static characterization of the different measurable variables that we can find in the plant will be made, which will help us have an idea of how the different process variables are related to the output of the different actuators. This will be of great help when designing control strategies. Following that, an identification of the dynamic response will be made for the different measurable variables of the plant when each of the actuators are activated or changed, and the results will be used for obtaining mathematical models of the plant. Lastly, different controllers will be tried on the plant and the results obtained will be shown, not only for the original control structures, but also for the different improvements and changes that were implemented in these controllers, with the goal of showing how these improvements made the overall controlling process more efficient or robust. |
