Nebrija: de la Gramatica de Ayer a la Gramatica de Hoy

Abstract

La Gramática de la lengua castellana (1492) de Elio Antonio de Nebrija es una obra fundamental en la historia del pensamiento lingüístico hispánico, ya que es la primera gramática de una lengua romance. Nebrija alumbra el nacimiento de la lingüística española con una clara visión de las grandes posibilidades de nuestra lengua. Si en el período correspondiente a la lingüística española del Siglo de Oro la importancia de la obra gramatical del gran Maestro sevillano es decisiva, no es menos cierto que hoy sigue siendo una brillante referencia como fuente de inspiración para nuestros estudios gramaticales. Como recuerdan algunos estudiosos, nunca debe olvidarse el estudio de la vasta herencia lingüística de que hemos sido depositarios. Por ello, la proyección de la Gramática de la lengua castellana en el campo de nuestros estudios gramaticales constituye un buen estímulo para la docencia y para la investigación. La lingüística española actual sabrá, sin duda, ser justa con la obra nebrisense y reconocer sus valiosas aportaciones. El V Centenario es un momento apropiado para acentuar este reconocimiento.

The work by Elio Antonio de Nebrija, Gramática de la Lengua Castellana, (1492), is a basic and fundamental work in the History of the Spanish Linguistics, as it is the first grammar in a Romance language. Nebrija gave birth to the Spanish Lingustics with a prospective outlook of the great possibiliities of our language. Nebrija's work is a decisive one, because of two important ressons. First, it is fundamental from the point of view of the history of the Spanish Linguistics in the lóth and 17th centuries, the Spanish Golden Age. And secondly, it is an un avoideble reference and a guide for the present studies of grammatical studies in Spanish. As some scholars point out, the study of the vast inheritance we have received cannot be neglected. The reference to the Gramática de Lengua Castellana in the scope of our studies, therefore, must be a challenge to overcome, and a stimulus for both teaching and investigatioon. The present Spanish linguists must play fair with Nebrija's work and acknowledge his valuable achievements and contributiuons. The 5th centenary is the appropiate moment to stress its importance and to encourage ist study.

La Gramática de la Lengua Castellana (1492) de Elio Antonio de Nebrija, est une oeuvre fondamental dans l'histoire de la pensée linguistique hispanique, puisque elle est la premiere grammaire d'une langue romane. Nebrija éclaire la naissance de la linguistique espagnole avec une claire vision des grandes chaces de notre langue. Si à l'époque correspondant à la linguistique espagnole du Siècle D'or l'importance de l'oeuvre grammatical du grand maître est décisive, il est certain aussi, qu' aujourd'huielle continue à être une brillante référence comme source d'inspiration pour nos études grammaticales. Corne certains spécialistes reppelent, on ne doit oublier jamais l'étude du veste héritage linguistique dont nous avons été les dépôts. Pour cela, la projection de la Grammaire de la langue castillane au champ de nos études grammaticales constitue un bon stimulation pour la enseignement et pour l'investigation. La linguistique espagnole actuelle saura, sans doute, être juste avec l'oeuvre de Nebrija et saura reconnaître ses précieuses contributions. Le cinquième Centenaire est un moment approprié pour remarquer cette reconnaissance.
