Its existence is not limited to national borders, but is a worldwide phenomenon. Its success lies in the great capacity it has to engage the interest of the audience and in the multiple ways in which it can appear in a publication. This technique can not only attract the reader to a website, but it can also modify the nature of the information and even damage the reputation of the subject of the content. This is the case of the University Rey Juan Carlos, which has been involved in several scandals of several kinds in the last few years, and whose image has been seriously compromised as a result of these issues. This study aims to delve into the effects that clickbait headlines have had on the university, what changes have been made to the public's image of the university as a result of the impact of the controversies and what features of this technique have had the greatest influence in bringing about this change. The aim is not only to examine this case, but also to create a model of analysis that could be applied to other organisations or institutions. |
