dc.description.abstractThis paper compares two recently published modulation and control approaches for a grid-connected five-level diode-clamped rectifier in terms of conduction losses. In this way, a prior analysis of the conducting time at steady state is presented for both approaches, and the usage of the most stressed switching device is calculated. The usage for this switching device is then compared with a typical nearest-two-level modulation strategy to show the efficiency of the studied approaches. Some simulations are also carried out to validate this comparison. © 2019 IEEE.es
