En este trabajo nos proponemos desentrañar la sustancia mítica de los tres primeros largometrajes del director mexicano Alejandro González Iñárritu: Amores perros (2000), 21 gramos (2003) y Babel (2006). Estos filmes, conocidos por sus narrativas multitrama, su estética fragmentaria y su desorden temporal, componen una trilogía que reproduce esquemas cíclicos de caída y redención. Nuestro principal objetivo es caracterizar el conjunto de fundamentos míticos y simbólicos que contribuyen a proyectar una determinada concepción de la realidad. El acervo bíblico y clásico que impregna nuestro objeto de estudio nos autoriza a postular una metodología basada en la exégesis del imaginario simbólico. Recurrimos a la mitocrítica de Gilbert Durand y a la crítica arquetípica de Northrop Frye con la intención de conceptuar el entramado de símbolos de las tres películas. El fin último es reconocer un cuadro de motivos obsesivos y entender cómo unas ideas abstractas se encarnan en unos personajes concretos ubicados en un determinado contexto político, económico y social. Los resultados obtenidos a partir del inventario de imágenes y su interpretación nos permiten percibir un doble sentido narrativo y simbólico en la trilogía. Por un lado, detectamos una serie de tramas orientadas a la caída del protagonista que escenifican un esquema de transgresión y castigo. Se impone un fatalismo trágico y determinista donde quedan expuestos los límites de las aspiraciones humanas y el peso de las condiciones materiales, raciales y de género. Por otro lado, encontramos una serie de tramas que apelan a la redención y que abren un camino a la expiación condicional de las infracciones. En estas soluciones narrativas aparece una mirada conmiserativa a la vez que la adecuación a un determinado orden o sistema de creencias. |
