This work is included within the research field that explores student characteristics that af ect and influence learning in distance learning environments. Particularly, it explores student approaches to learning (Deep or Superficial) and their relation with student achievement and satisfaction in an e-learning course. Subjets of the study were students of a vocational training distance course, adults, and with a high schooling level. Data were gathered using the translated version of the Revised Two Factor Study Process Questionnaire (R-SPQ-2F) and the Questionnaire of Evaluation and Student Satisfaction in a Distance Course. Student grades during the course were used to feed the achievement variable. A wide majority of students showed a Deep Approach to learning. No relation was found between approaches to learning and achievement or satisfaction. Possible explanations for these results and implications for distance course design are included.
