The present research aims to review the findings found in the last two decades on the relationship between social support, both family and school, perceived and self-harm in adolescents. To contextualize and enrich the research, authorship, methodological and content objectives were proposed. The sample was obtained from a search in the “Web of Science” database and is made up of 28 empirical investigations whose participants are adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17. The risk of bias in the simple was assessed using the Downs and Black Checklist, while the PRISMA Statement was used to assess the quality of the present research. The results show that a lower perceived social support increases the risk of self-harm, while a higher perceived social support, decreases this risk. Therefore, depending on the level at which it is perceived, social support can be a risk or protection factor against self-harm. |
