Video game is the most lucrative audiovisual sector in Spain, above industries such as cinema (AEVI, 2019). In parallel, only a third of the EU’s executives were women in 2017 (INE y Eurostat, 2018), while realities such as workplace harassment lack statistics because they are difficult to quantify. This research is a cross-sectional study of the video game from the perspective of journalism and gender. We assume that specialized journalists suffer harassment and discrimination based on their gender, especially in the digital environment. Hence, the objective is to deepen the work routine in response to discriminatory situations. Through semi-structured interviews with specialized journalists, a profile will be made of the situation in which women report about video games, pending subjects to achieve gender equality and the role of social networks. |
