Abstract | Entendiendo el Black Mountain College como un modelo de instituciónde enseñanza experimental de éxito, se aborda el estudio de aquellos espaciosque allí eran concebidos como espacios de aprendizaje, buscandoencontrar, ... Entendiendo el Black Mountain College como un modelo de instituciónde enseñanza experimental de éxito, se aborda el estudio de aquellos espaciosque allí eran concebidos como espacios de aprendizaje, buscandoencontrar, mediante este análisis, algunas claves sobre porque tanto lavariedad de sus espacios, como las características individuales de cadauno de ellos influyó en el éxito del College.Se dividé la trayectoria del College en dos bloques, partiendo de los espaciosa analizar. El primer bloque se corresponde con la primera etapadel Black Mountain en el Campus de Blue Ridge, entre su fundación en1933 y el año 1941. El segundo bloque aborda la etapa desarrolladaen el Campus de Lago Eden, entre 1941 y el cierre del College en 1957.En ambos se estudiarán aquellos espacios considerados como fundamentalesen el College: las aulas, los espacios privados, los talleres y losespacios de convivencia, abordandose las características tanto arquitectónicascomo el uso y la importancia que estos espacios tuvieron para elBlack Mountain College, a través del análisis de textos, fotografías y documentos originales, sacando a la luz documentos y fotografías inéditasy desarrollando una planimetría que comletarán la compresión tanto deestos espacios cómo de lo que fué en general el Black Mountain.Así trataremos de llegar, a través de esta búsqueda a medio camino entrela pedagogía y la arquitectura, a la ethosa, origen griego de nuestroconcepto de aula, que nace de aquel lugar en el que se enciende el fuegoy en torno al que la gente se reune a hablar para intentar comprenderlos “espacios para enseñar a ver” de Josef y Anni Albers, John A. Rice,Xanti Schawinsky, Merce Cunningham, John Cage o R. Buckminster Fullery presentar a traver de ellos una reflexión sobre los espacios y modelos docentes actuales. |
