Abstract | El cáncer de pulmón no microcítico es uno de los cánceres con mayor incidencia y mortalidad a nivel mundial. Su elevada mortalidad se debe a que, en el momento del diagnóstico, casi el 60% de los pacientes presentan cáncer ... El cáncer de pulmón no microcítico es uno de los cánceres con mayor incidencia y mortalidad a nivel mundial. Su elevada mortalidad se debe a que, en el momento del diagnóstico, casi el 60% de los pacientes presentan cáncer metastásico, es decir, el cáncer se encuentra diseminado por el organismo. Los tratamientos actuales no son lo suficientemente eficaces para erradicar a todas las células cancerosas, hecho que queda reflejado en que menos del 5% de los pacientes con metástasis sobreviven más de 5 años desde el diagnóstico. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es realizar una revisión bibliográfica del tratamiento actual para el cáncer de pulmón no microcítico, centrándose especialmente en la terapia farmacológica. Otro objetivo de este trabajo es realizar una revisión de nuevos tratamientos del cáncer de pulmón en ensayos clínicos de fase III en los últimos 10 años. Con estos objetivos, se ha realizado una búsqueda bibliográfica en fuentes como páginas webs de instituciones de salud e investigación oncológicas, y diferentes bases de datos, como Pubmed o Clinicaltrials.gov. En la actualidad, existen diversas terapias para el tratamiento de este tipo de cáncer, cuya utilización dependerá del estadio de la enfermedad. En las fases más tempranas, la terapia más adecuada es la cirugía, mientras que en etapas más avanzadas se utilizan la radioterapia y la terapia farmacológica, destacando el uso de compuestos de platino. En etapas metastásicas, la terapia utilizada es la terapia dirigida e inmunoterapia. Los pacientes con un cáncer metastásico pueden recibir, además, determinados cuidados paliativos. Se están investigando nuevos tratamientos para curar el cáncer de pulmón no microcítico, enfocados sobre todo en terapia dirigida y en inmunoterapia, tanto en monoterapia como en combinación con otras terapias tradicionales como platinos, gemcitabina o pemetrexed. |
