The Visual Indicators of Alterations for Paintings on Canvas Project (IVAPTA) was selected by the Secretariado de Recursos Audiovisuales y Nuevas Tecnologías (SAV) of the Universidad de Sevilla (II Plan Propio de Docencia, convocation 2015). This project has developed a software application for mobile devices enabling Augmented Reality to utilise the field of knowledge relating to a cultural artefact. The aims of the application are to identify and illustrate alterations and degradation of a cultural artefact and present them to the educational community and society in general. The resource includes visual indicators of the alterations in a painting on canvas; in this case those in the work Immaculate Conception, attributed to Meneses and owned by the City of Sanlúcar la Mayor (Seville). The final application is userfriendly, affordable, visual and descriptive and allows people who are involved in the study, teaching, research and restoration of cultural artefacts to recognize, appreciate and evaluate the level of risk they pose to the integrity of the artefact. |
