Activist subcultures on social media have been characterized in recent years by a turn towards identity politics. The loss of an emancipatory goal has favored the development of social capital accumulation practices online, as well as a strong atmosphere of moralism that could be debilitated by members of the so-called alt-right just before the US election campaign. The ways in which activist interaction on social media are preconditioned by certain neoliberal dynamics will be analized for the sake of a better understanding of the recent hegemonic conquest from right-wing groups |
