The growing concern of our society for the protection of animals and the quality of the biomedical research, has returned to the present a former ethical and scientific debate. With Directive 2010/63/EU, the division between those who consider the experimentation with animals as something even necessary and those who see in the vivisection an unacceptable practice, has been radicalized. Although it has been defined as one of the legislative acts on animal welfare more advanced in the world, the new Directive has been the subject of severe criticism. Since "Stop Vivisection" European Citizens’Initiative, requested its immediate repeal and the adoption of a new legislative framework that completely eliminated the experiments with animals for 2020. Requests that if well have been rejected by the European Commission have forced the critical review of the Directive |
