Reconversión de espacios turísticos maduros. Una aproximación al caso de Ses Figueretes - Platja d’en Bossa (Ibiza)

Abstract

El litoral mediterráneo español se ve afectado por procesos de saturación y maduración

de sus destinos turísticos que no han sabido adaptarse a las nuevas tendencias de la

demanda siendo necesario desarrollar políticas de reconversión integral para mejorar la

calidad del producto ofrecido y mantener su competitividad en el mercado. En esta

línea, el objetivo de la presente comunicación consiste en realizar un primer análisis de

la situación actual del destino turístico del área litoral de Ses Figueretes - Platja d’en

Bossa, en el término municipal de Ibiza, uno de los más emblemáticos de la isla. Se

trata de un espacio turístico maduro cuya oferta se centra básicamente en el turismo de

sol y playa complementado con el ocio nocturno cuyo entorno ha ido degradándose con

las correspondientes consecuencias sobre la demanda turística y sobre la población

residente. El estudio que se presenta realiza un análisis de los diferentes usos que se

desarrollan en este sector así como una valoración de la opinión a través de encuestas a

los diferentes agentes sociales y turísticos sobre el destino. Dicho análisis es el primer

paso para detectar los puntos débiles de este sector y en consecuencia, permitir articular

las medidas necesarias para su reconversión.

The Spanish Mediterranean coast is affected by saturation and maturation processes of

its tourist destinations that have not know how to adapt to the new trends of demand,

being necessary the development of restructuring policies to improve the quality of the

products offered and to remain competitive in the market. The target of this

communication is a first analysis of the current situation of the touristic destination such

as the coastal area Figueretes-Platja d'en Bossa in the town of Ibiza, one of the most

emblematic of the island . This is a mature tourist space whose bid is centred on the sun

and beach tourism supplemented with nightlife whose environment has been degraded

with consequences on tourism demand and the resident population. Also, the study

presents an analysis of the different uses that are developed in this sector and an

evaluation of public opinion through surveys of the different social and tourism agents

about the destination. This analysis is the first step to detect the weaknesses of this

sector and thus make possible new steps to articulate measures for its conversion.
