This study aims to prove that the Yuánmíng Yuán was designed as a representation of the imperial macrocosm from the philosophy of Qianlong China. To do so, the symbolic role of European-style palaces from descriptions of Eastern and Western embassies. This information will be enriched with the various pictorial representations of the garden, conserved in both watercolors, prints or murals. From all this information is intended to assess its use in the visits of different foreign legacies. Specifically, we try to ensure that European palaces were used predominantly to impress the Eastern missions, rather than the Western. |
