Ecopuzzles: un material didáctico para el aprendizaje de las relaciones tróficas

Abstract

La divulgación de las relaciones existentes en los ecosistemas es una tarea compleja, por lo que la base de este proyecto, una vez seleccionadas aquellas esencialmente sobresalientes, ha sido poner a punto una técnica que permitiese relacionar espacialmente los diferentes elementos. Para ello se ha recurrido a un modelo bidimensional, compuesto por fichas octogonales que encajan en un retículo de piezas cuadrangulares fijas. Por su configuración, cada una de las fichas octogonales, además de estar en contacto con 4 piezas cuadrangulares, permite un contacto con otras 4 del mismo tipo. Las fichas octogonales corresponden a especies animales seleccionadas en los diferentes ecosistemas, y son mayoritariamente artrópodos (insectos principalmente) mientras que las piezas cuadrangulares representan diferentes recursos tróficos (plantas, suelo, excrementos, vegetación acuática…) que pueden ser utilizados por estos, al menos en alguna etapa de su desarrollo. Para su correcto montaje, las fichas octogonales deberán ocupar una única posición correcta, para lo que deberá tenerse en cuenta la correspondencia de los iconos utilizados. En el caso de los contactos octógonos-cuadrados, estos representan el tipo de relación de los animales con los distintos recursos tróficos (nectarifagia, antofagia, radicifagia, filofagia, xilofagia…). En el caso de los contactos entre octógonos, los iconos representan diferentes interacciones entre animales, según su estatus ecológico: depredador entomófago, parasitoide, presa…, relaciones que se representan gráficamente mediante diferentes tipos de flechas, que parten de la/s especie/es depredadora/parasitoide, y señalan a la/s posible/s especie/s de presa/s potencial/es. De este modo, el montaje de las fichas puede realizarse con relativa facilidad, y una vez correctamente colocadas, el tablero permite visualizar el entramado de interacciones entre los elementos representados. La información contenida es amplia y permite una visión de conjunto, permitiendo conocer las relaciones particulares entre especies concretas

The function of disseminating information of the existing relations in an ecosystem is a complex task, for what the base of this project, once selected those essential ones, has been to design a technical material that was allowing to relate spatially the different elements involved in an ecosystem. For it, there has been appealed to a two-dimensional model composed by octagonal filing cards that they fit into a reticulum of quadrangular fixed pieces. For his geometric configuration, each of the filing cards, beside being in touch with 4 quadrangular pieces, supports relation with other 4 of the same octagonal type. The octagonal filing cards correspond to animal species selected in the different ecosystems, and are mostly arthropods (mainly insects) whereas the quadrangular pieces represent different trophic resources (plants, soil, excrements, aquatic vegetation …) that can be used by these species, at least in some stage of his development. For his correct assembly, the octagonal filing cards have to be fitted in the only correct position, for what will have to bear in mind the correspondence of the used icons. In case of the octagonal-square, these contacts represent the type of relation of the animals with the different trophic resources (nectar sucker, flower eater, leaf eater, roots eater, wood eater, sap sucker…). In case of the contacts between octagonal, the icons represent different interactions between animals, according to his ecological status: entomophagous predator, parasitoid, host, prey …, relations that are represented graphically by means of different types of arrow graphically by means of different types of arrow, from the predator and parasitoid species, up to their potential preys/host. Thus, the assembly of the cards can be realized relatively easily, and once correctly placed, the board allows to visualize the studding interaction between the represented elements. The contained information is wide and allows an overall view, as well as the particular relationships between the species.
