Presently, Dentistry is drastically changing in many aspects, and everything is contributing to make a teaching body called Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD) which is based in the clinical epidemiology principle. This new tendency has been defined as the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients. The evidence-based method involves a five sequential step: 1) making a question about the patient’s clinical problem; 2) finding the evidence; 3) critical appraisal the evidence; 4) applying the result in clinical practice, an finally, 5) evaluating one’s one’s performance. The aim of this article is introducing clinitians into this new form to practice dentistry and expanding the first step in the process of evidence-based making decision. In summary, the EBD attempt changing in depth the form to practice assistential activity, arriving more science to art of dental treatment. Its main aim is having the best evidence available into clinical practices. |
