For an empirical sociological theory the problem of freedom should be re-formulated from a multidimensional and situational view: people are nestled in the core of micro-situations and they make a subjective assessment of ... For an empirical sociological theory the problem of freedom should be re-formulated from a multidimensional and situational view: people are nestled in the core of micro-situations and they make a subjective assessment of a specific objective configuration of elements that define the boundaries where their action occurs. This paper applies this theoretical view to ambivalence of the relationship between humans and their technological environments. Thus is intended to show that people are essentially situational and that an understanding of the complexity of the human being as a being-between-objects requires a theoretical model that takes the micro-situation as a starting point and the different phenomenological and (macro, meso, micro) space-time dimensions as key ingredients. |
