Infantile hemangiomas are very common non-cancerous vascular tumors among infants, approximately 1 in 20 infants have a hemangioma. The aim of this final degree project is to develop an artificial intelligence model that assists medical personnel in the diagnosis of these hemangiomas. The system will consist of extracting features representing color and texture properties present in the lesions, and training a SVM (Support Vector Machine) model with these features. These features will be used to differentiate the different types of hemangiomas, and a study will be made of the most discriminating and useful ones for this purpose. With these selected features, a machine learning model will be trained to classify the images of IHs according to their depth. Currently, medical personnel diagnose IH mainly by simple visual inspection, although they can rely on other techniques such as Doppler ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging, but these techniques are not always available and their cost is high. The aim of this project is to develop a tool that will help medical personnel to diagnose IH quickly. To this end, we will apply the use of machine learning techniques to develop an artificial intelligence that fulfills this task. In this way, IH can be diagnosed more quickly and at a lower cost. For the development of this project, features have been extracted from a set of conventional photographic images of HI and a SVM (support-vector machines) model has been trained to obtain an accuracy of up to 100%. |
