A partir del siglo XI miles de personas, procedentes de todos los países de la cristiandad, encaminaron sus pasos a Santiago de Compostela en un incesante movimiento de pueblos que marcó profundamente la historia del occidente europeo, especialmente la de los estados cristianos de la península ibérica, pues las peregrinaciones a Santiago tuvieron un gran papel crucial en la configuración de sus estructuras políticas y socioeconómicas, en las actitudes mentales de sus gentes y en la vida cultural. En esta lección inaugural, que dio comienzo al curso 2023/2024 en el Aula de la Experiencia de la Universidad de Sevilla, la profesora Gloria Lora Serrano, experta en historia medieval, nos acerca a la génesis, historia y dinámica de los caminos del sur, muy diferente a la de los itinerarios jacobeos, que hasta bien entrado el siglo XIII discurrían por un mundo, el andalusí, con un contexto político, religioso, social, económico y cultural completamente diferente. |
