Redes Transimperiais no Comércio do Atlântico Sul: o exemplo dos ingleses lisboetas no Rio de Janeiro durante a segunda metade do século XVIII

Abstract

O advento da descoberta do ouro, em fins do século XVII transformou a economia colonial. O papel das redes de negócio neste processo foi decisivo. Analisar os agentes envolvidos nessas transações e suas principais agências foi o objetivo do artigo. Os resultados mostraram que as redes transimperiais eram operadas por importantes negociantes estrangeiros, estabelecidos em Lisboa e com forte presença na praça fluminense.

The advent of the discovery of gold, at the end of the 17th century, transformed the colonial economy. The role of networks in this process was decisive. Analyzing the agents involved in these transactions and their main agencies was the objective of the article. Theresults showed that the trans-imperial networks were operated by important foreign traders established in Lisbon with a strong presence in Rio de Janeiro.
