De estilo maraglianesco: otras esculturas de Génova en Andalucía

Abstract

Este artículo reivindica el protagonismo que la escultura genovesa tuvo en Andalucía durante la época Moderna, concretamente varias obras de madera que fueron realizadas durante el siglo XVIII. Sabemos poco de ellas a nivel documental, pero esa circunstancia no impide que puedan ponerse en relación con Anton Maria Maragliano y sus discípulos o continuadores. Los comentarios ofrecidos sobre cada imagen permiten hacer valoraciones acerca de su uso, las cualidades estilísticas que revelan y los modelos reproducidos. Además, el texto aspira a llamar la atención sobre el poco interés que las manifestaciones de arte ligur han tenido en Sevilla, uno de los focos creativos y mercantiles más importantes en la España del Antiguo Régimen.

This paper insists on the prominence that genoese sculpture reached in Andalusia during the Early Modern Times, specifically various wood works that were required during the 18th century. We don´t know documentation about them, but that circumstance doesn ´t prevent them from being in contact with Anton Maria Maragliano and his disciples or followers. The comments offered on each sculpture allow us to make evaluations about their use, the stylistic qualities they show and the models reproduced. In addition, it aspires to highlight the little interest that the Ligurian art manifestations have in Seville, one of the most important creative and commercial centers in the Spain of the Ancien Regime.
