The art of cinema has been linked to architecture since its birth. The art of cinema has been linked to architecture since its birth. The similarity between their languages and the filtrations that occur from one to the other provide an opportunity to study the field of architecture from other perspectives. The use of architecture in cinema as a cinematographic space is intertwined through popular culture with its role as a real and lived space, allowing this study an understanding of how certain architectural characteristics or styles are perceived by society and affect the collective unconscious. It’s proposed an analysis of the representation of different architectures of the post-war periods (1920 - 1940) (1945 - 1970) and the significant role that these have had in the cinema. For this purpose, the architectures of 5 outstanding films are studied, focusing on a specific theme for each of them: Metropolis, Alphaville, A Clockwork Orange, Fish Tank, and High Rise. |
