Bone remodelling is an essential process in the bone lifetime, where it is in a constant loop of absorption and regrowth due to the bone cells response to the loads to which it is subjected. On the other hand, agent-based models (ABM) are a series of computational methods that allow the modelling of complex systems and the analysis of their evolution over time in a much simpler way. This project aims to analyse as well as simulate the process of bone remodelling using agent-based models, in particular the program NetLogo, to implement them. This study is based on a previous work, which has been developed further through the simulation of more complex models. A sensitivity analysis was carried out on each model to study the influence of the different parameters on the evolution of the bone volume fraction, which was compared with reality. The results obtained have proven to be closer to reality in the more complex models. |
