More and more households are gradually deciding to switch to photovoltaic self-consumption. This alternative energy supply, although initially expensive, is profitable in the long term and responsible with the environment. However, full use of the energy produced is not always achieved, so there is usually a surplus of energy. As this surplus normally ends up being discharged into the electricity grid, a possible solution is to use it for the generation of DHW. DHW (Domestic Hot Water) is water intended mainly for human consumption (personal hygiene, cleaning, etc.) that has been previously heated. In this way, a better energy use is achieved. Although there are already devices on the market capable of taking advantage of this energy surplus for this and other purposes, it is usually expensive for a normal consumer. Therefore, this project aims to develop, program and evaluate a low-cost device in Arduino to use the surplus energy in a resistance in a tank for the generation of DHW. |
