dc.description.abstract | In this project we will accomplish a numeric study of the phenomenon known as Rayleigh-Bénard
natural convection. This study is motivated by certain observations of the Sun from which we
deduce that these phenomenon is a reality in the solar convective zone and its analysis is still in his
initial phase. As an introduction, we will explain this phenomenon and its causes, and also the laws
that rule its behaviour.
Nevertheless, the case we are going to analyse is a simplified reduction of the real problem, since
our objective is to simulate the reality of the solar convective zone and obtain interesting conclusions.
On the basis of the Navier-Stockes equations, we will reach the setup of the problem and its
subsequent resolution. Two different cases will be addressed: Firstly, a rectangular enclosure will
be taken into account and a constant heat flux will be applied on its lower surface. Afterwards, the
analysis will focus on the same enclosure, but in this case the effect of an imposed radiation flux in
the system will be the subject of study.
These lines of analysis will be carried out in terms of numeric calculus with MATLAB program,
which will let us show simulations of the phenomenon and obtain characteristic values of certain
variables.
Finally, we will make a resume of the conclusions we obtain and new lines of study will be opened
for future projects. | es |
