José Concha, un actor-dramático: Del dicho al hecho

Abstract

En nuestro trabajo se ofrece un primer acercamiento al desconocido dramaturgo-actor José Concha (¿1750?-¿1800?) y su producción literaria. Para ello, se ha analizado un testimonio manuscrito inédito de la Biblioteca Nacional de España: La amistad más bien probada. La transcripción y edición anotada del texto va precedida por el contexto histórico, filosófico y literario en el que se inserta el comediante, una reconstrucción de su biografía, la descripción del manuscrito y el análisis interpretativo del mismo. Se trata de un texto que demuestra cómo el teatro de Concha se incorpora a la estética neoclásica de la Ilustración, en paralelo a las obras de Tomás Iriarte y Fernández de Moratín. Asimismo, trata varios temas que preocupaban a los grandes moralistas de su época: la educación y los matrimonios desiguales.

In this project, we give a first approach to the unknown playwright and actor José Concha (1750?-1800?) and his literary work. For that, an unpublished manuscript testimony of the National Library in Spain has been analyzed: La Amistad más bien probada. The transcription and the annotated edition of the text is preceded by the historical, philosophical and literary context in which the comedian is inserted, the reconstruction of his biography, the description of the manuscript and the interpretation of it. It is a text which shows how the Concha’s theatre is integrated into the neoclassical aesthetic of the Eighteenth century, simultaneously to the Tomás de Iriarte’s and Moratín’s works. Besides, it addresses several issues that worried the great moralists of that time: education and unequal marriages.
