In this project, we give a first approach to the unknown playwright and actor José Concha (1750?-1800?) and his literary work. In this project, we give a first approach to the unknown playwright and actor José Concha (1750?-1800?) and his literary work. For that, an unpublished manuscript testimony of the National Library in Spain has been analyzed: La Amistad más bien probada. The transcription and the annotated edition of the text is preceded by the historical, philosophical and literary context in which the comedian is inserted, the reconstruction of his biography, the description of the manuscript and the interpretation of it. It is a text which shows how the Concha’s theatre is integrated into the neoclassical aesthetic of the Eighteenth century, simultaneously to the Tomás de Iriarte’s and Moratín’s works. Besides, it addresses several issues that worried the great moralists of that time: education and unequal marriages. |
