dc.description.abstract | In this work we focus our attention on a collection of function spaces whose
analysis is not deepened usually during the teaching of a Degree in Mathematics. Specifically, we are interested in properties of several spaces of analytic
functions defined on an open subset of the complex plane.
In the Degree courses, basic properties of holomorphic functions are taught,
their singularities are studied, integrals along paths are calculated, connection
with harmonic functions of two real variables is established, conformal representation among plane regions are dealt with, convergence of series and infinite
products of analytic functions are analyzed, and the space of all holomorphic
functions in plane regions -endowed with the topology of uniform convergence
in compacta- is introduced. The aim of this work is to go in more depth into
the study of this space, as well as of several subfamilies and subespaces of it. In
some cases, such subspaces can be endowed with topologies that are different
from the one inherited from the whole space.
In the present dissertation, that is divided into five chapters, we shall start
from the above mentioned space of holomorphic functions and introduce the
so-called normal families, as an extension of the concept of relatively compact
families that were characterized by Paul Montel. Next, it is presented the class
of subharmonic functions as a tool to solve the Dirichlet Problem in a plane
region. Later, we shall study the most emblematic holomorphic function spaces,
which are mainly considered in the unit disk. These spaces are the Bergman
space, the space of bounded holomorphic functions, and the Hardy spaces,
each of them with its kind of convergence and structural features. Moreover,
we shall dealt with an auxiliary family of functions -the so-called Nevanlinna
class- that will help us to prove a number of properties in the setting of Hardy
spaces.
It is fair to say that spaces of holomorphic functions continue on aweaking
the interest of many mathematicians since more than a century ago. Obviously,
the present work does not intend to be comprehensive, but we will try to sum
up the most important aspects about this theory, so we can see the most
relevant results comfortably. Nevertheless, and with the aim to be as selfcontained as possible, we have incorporated a number of preliminary results
into some chapters.
