Viajar para coleccionar. El viaje de Torino hasta Musscat de Vitaliano Donati: utile y viaje material en el siglo XVIII

Abstract

Animado por la curiosidad científica fue el viaje al Este por el naturalista Vitaliano Donati (1717-1762). De hecho, el largo itinerario entre Egipto y la Península Arábiga se considera una expedición oficial de investigación. El primer interés de Donati se dirigió a la colección de repertos arqueológicos y naturales de varios tipos útiles para enriquecer las colecciones reales. El segundo interés iba dirigido a analizar las actividades agrícolas y comerciales presentes. La misión de investigación de Donati indica el deseo de unir el viaje en el este con la búsqueda de lo útil. Después de haber mencionado brevemente las colecciones enviadas por Donati a Torino, la investigación científica presentará este segundo aspecto y también aquello del viaje material al Este.

Encouraged by scientific curiosity was the trip to the East by the naturalist Vitaliano Donati (1717-1762). In fact, the long itinerary between Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula is considered an official research expedition. Donati's first interest was directed to the collection of archaeological and natural repertoires of various useful types to enrich the royal collections. The second interest was directed to analyze the agricultural and commercial activities present. Donati's research mission indicates the desire to unite the trip in the east with the search for usefulness. After briefly mentioning the collections sent by Donati to Torino, scientific research will present this second aspect and also that of the material journey to the East.
