The paper assesses the influence of Organizational Climate and Leadership Quality on Sense of Community (Purkiss & Rossi, 2007). In a survey, 120 scenic arts workers in Andalusia were interviewed. Cultural organizations can be considered community-based organizations as they deploy a role as social transformation agents (Barnes, 2011). Sense of Community was assessed through COSOC-R, an instrument particularly adapted to community organizations (Hughey, Speer & Peterson, 1999).Hierarchical regressions highlight that Organizational Climate is positively related to Sense of Community, whereas Leadership Quality is not significantly related. Performing arts organizations usually deploy community activities. Small organizations seem to facilitate positive organizational dynamics, contributing in consequence to a higher identification with the community. The implications of the organizational environment management on organizational and community development are discussed.
