The middle course of Guadalete river, near Arcos de la Frontera (Cadiz) shows a system of quaternary terraces (Pleistocene and Holocene), which belong to different levels of the fluvial net. It is possible to see until 5 terrace levels including the actual one. In this paper, we study the pedogenetic processes acting in the more recent terraces linked to Guadalete river (3rd, 4th and actual) and Majaceite river (4th), that joins to the first after A r c o s r e s e r v o i r. The parent material of soils formed on such terraces is mainly constitued by graves and sand, wich receive calcareous sediments from marls and limic marls all around. The first consequence of this is the ocurrence of calcic diagnostic horizons in the soils. Lixiviation can be appreciated either the presence of CO3Ca nodules or arg i c diagnostic horizons (Bt)
