Tres concepciones de la libertad: racionalismo, voluntarismo/existencialismo y naturalismo

Abstract

Este artículo combina tres objetivos. En primer lugar, trata de caracterizar tres modelos generales (racionalista, existencialista/voluntarista y naturalista) desde los cuales es posible conceptualizar la libertad humana. En segundo lugar, para motivar estos modelos se recurre a ciertas citas procedentes de los Apuntes del subsuelo de Dostoyevski, a la vez que se sugiere una interpretación de las posiciones en liza que se vislumbran en las palabras del “hombre del subsuelo”. Y, en tercer lugar, se defiende el modelo naturalista sobre los otros dos. Finalmente, se discuten y remedian ciertos problemas de la noción de “necesidades volitivas”, fundamentales para este modelo.

This paper has three aims. Firstly, I characterize three distinctive general models o conceptions (i.e., rationalist, existentialist/voluntarist and naturalist) from which human freedom can be accounted for. Secondly, I motivate these models by appealing to some quotes from Dostoevsky’s Notes from Underground, as well as suggest an interpretation of the views present in the words of “the man from underground”. And, thirdly, I argue for the naturalist conception and, eventually, some problems for the key notion of “volitive necessities” are addressed and overcome.
