I propose to reflect on how cyberfeminist emphases have been changing in recent decades in parallel with the social transformations derived from the construction of a networked world. Estimating that the current greatest achievements and mobilizations have not come from the “forms of representation” post-body as suggested by the first cyberfeminism, but from the power of the feminist alliance on the Internet. To investigate this recent scenario, I suggest five points of entry to cyberfeminism and its readings on representation and alliance highlighting in all of them the influence that artistic activism has had. I will begin by situating some “ways of doing” that characterized the first period. Second, I will discuss about “feminization and decentralization” in networks as a foundational cyberfeminist analogy. Later, about “post-body interface and subjectivity” as inspiration of some utopian readings in the network. I will also reflect on the “intersection of public and private spheres” in the connected room of one’s own. And finally, I will discuss the cyberfeminist drift from artistic practice to activism in the cultural practice of gender and technology. |
