Abstract | El objetivo principal de este artículo es establecer la naturaleza de las relaciones
de P. Cornelio Escipión, si las hubo, con el poblado prerromano posteriormente conocido
como Italica, vinculación sólo documentada por ... El objetivo principal de este artículo es establecer la naturaleza de las relaciones de P. Cornelio Escipión, si las hubo, con el poblado prerromano posteriormente conocido como Italica, vinculación sólo documentada por la narración de Apiano. Defiendo en este escrito: a) que se puede admitir, como mucho, su naturaleza primaria y única de alojamiento temporal para soldados heridos del ejército de Escipión, b) que no hay datos que permitan demostrar la existencia de una fundación romana de ningún tipo y c) que la imposición del nombre de Italica al poblado hispano es atribuible a los itálicos asentados en la población con posterioridad, antes que a Escipión The main aim of this paper is to establish the nature of P. I defend in this paper: a) that we can at most accept its primary and only nature of temporary lodging for wounded soldiers of Scipio’s army, b) that there are no grounds for supporting the hypothesis of the existence of a Roman foundation in Italica, and c) that the name Italica was likely imposed to the autochthonous town by the Italic people settled long afterward, rather than by Scipio |
