Enmarcado en la situación actual de investigación de nuevas fuentes energéticas que apuntan al desarrollo sostenible, la industria química se encuentra con el butanol como posible nuevo combustible. Tras la reacción catalítica de obtención de butanol a partir de etanol, con la que se pretende producir butanol a gran escala, aparece una mezcla de componentes polares muy compleja y difícil de separar (azeótropos, inmiscibilidad de fases) por lo que la obtención de butanol con la pureza adecuada necesita de estudio para ser económicamente viable. La termodinámica del equilibrio de fases rige en los problemas de separación de compuestos y por lo tanto será necesario un estudio profundo de esta y de los modelos termodinámicos que se aplican a los simuladores de procesos. Tras considerar diferentes modelos termodinámicos para la modelar la mezcla problema se decide usar la ecuación UNIQUAQ por su precisión. Esta ecuación usa parámetros binarios a determinar a partir de datos experimentales de equilibrio entre fases. Se estudia y aplica un método específico de cálculo de los parámetros ajustables de la ecuación UNIQUAC basado en el ordenamiento de la mezcla problema, la selección de datos experimentales y la sucesión de regresiones de parámetros, con el que alcanzar una representación óptima de los equilibrios de fase que se producen en la mezcla multicomponente tanto en la fase líquida como vapor. |
