Abstract | Love and death do not rhyme. They are incompatible, but come in poetry again and again intertwined in an eternal fight, as though each would be the counter-measure of the other. They are incompatible, but come in poetry again and again intertwined in an eternal fight, as though each would be the counter-measure of the other. In Castilian Poetry, by Manrique seems death to have the upper hand; by Garcilaso and Quevedo undoubtedly gains love. Amor y muerte no riman. |
