Estas anomalí as, se caracterizan por la ausencia y disminución en el tamaño del globo ocular respectivamente, lo que confiere a las personas afectadas una gran discapacidad visual, que puede ir desde una disminución de la agudeza visual hasta la ceguera total. L a pérdi da congénita del ojo es la razón más importante de hipodesarrollo orbitario, que da lugar a consecuencias funcionales, físicas y psicológicas . En caso de ceguera, el objetivo principal se basa en la estimulación precoz del crecimiento de la órbita, donde juegan un papel muy importante el oftalmólogo y el óptico - optometrista como ocularista . Por lo que se propone profundizar en el tratamiento de estas afecciones y en especial en la adaptación de conformadores y prótesis oculares, por ser considerado como uno de los tratamientos de elección. |
