Abstract

Toyohara Kunichika y Yôshû Chikanobu son dos de los artistas de estampa ukiyo-e más importantes del siglo XIX en Japón debido a que vivieron una etapa de transformación que los llevó a llevar las características más tradicionales del grabado japonés a un proceso de modernización desde el periodo Edo al periodo Meiji (1868- 1912). Debido a que se abrieron sus fronteras al exterior, se incluyeron nuevas formas de impresión y técnicas fotográficas, así como novedosos aspectos relacionados con el color, perspectiva, etc. Esto es lo que se ve en estos dos artistas y en las colecciones de estampa que se encuentran en nuestro país
