El objetivo principal de este proyecto fin de máster es la identificación y cuantificación de las cargas ambientales asociadas al cultivo de tomate bajo invernadero. Para llevar a cabo esta cuantificación se utiliza la metodología del análisis del ciclo de vida, ACV. El trabajo se ha estructurado en diferentes capítulos. El primer capítulo, “Interés y objetivos” presenta un carácter introductorio. En él, se revisan los antecedentes y se especifican los objetivos. El capítulo dos “Revisiones del estado del arte” se encuentra dividido en tres secciones. La primera sección, se encuentra dedicada al estudio del invernadero como infraestructura fundamental y característica de la provincia de Almería. Se analiza la distribución, tipología, manejo del suelo, sistemas de riego, materiales, funcionamiento y características propias de esta infraestructura. En la segunda sección, se realiza una breve introducción del desarrollo del cultivo intensivo de tomate en invernadero. Se exponen sus necesidades y cuidados, caracterizando a este cultivo de gran importancia en la provincia de Almería. La tercera sección consiste en la definición y descripción de la metodología propia de los estudios de análisis de ciclo de vida, ACV. De acuerdo con la normativa 14040, un proyecto puede dividirse en cuatro fases: objetivos y alcance del estudio, inventario, evaluación de impacto e interpretación. Se analiza cada una de estas fases y se presentan las principales metodologías, bases de datos y programas software actuales. El capítulo tercero, “Material y métodos” es el núcleo central de este trabajo fin de máster y en él se realiza el análisis de ciclo de vida, ACV, del proceso de cultivo de tomate bajo abrigo y se detallan las categorías de impacto e indicadores utilizados. El capítulo cuarto, “Resultados y discusión”, se presentan, analizan e interpretan los resultados tanto a nivel global del sistema como a nivel individual de cada uno de los subsistemas que conforman el escenario de estudio. Del mismo modo se presentan los resultados del estudio de alternativas de mejora encaminadas a reducir las cargas ambientales asociadas al cultivo de tomate bajo invernadero. El quinto capítulo “Conclusiones” se presentan las principales conclusiones derivadas, por un lado, de la detección de los puntos ambientalmente débiles del cultivo de tomate en invernadero y, por otro lado, se presentan las dificultades de aplicación que presentan la metodología del análisis del ciclo de vida para procesos en la horticultura intensiva bajo plástico. Por último, el capítulo de “Bibliografía” se relaciona las referencias bibliográficas que recoge el trabajo fin de máster realizado. |
