Un acercamiento al Método Tomatis y su aplicación terapéutica

Abstract

Las siguientes líneas ofrecen un acercamiento a la evidencia de los efectos que la música tiene sobre los seres vivos y cómo numerosos estudios han demostrado que el uso terapéutico de la música es un arte con siglos de antigüedad y que hoy, en la actualidad, constituye un recurso importante en la cura de ciertas enfermedades.Más concretamente, ofrecemos una visión de la utilización terapéutica del método creado por el doctor Alfred Tomatis, cuyas investigaciones provocaron una auténtica revolución en la comprensión del oído y supusieron un antes y un después en el enfoque de los trastornos motores, emocionales y cognitivos; recuperando la idea de que una reeducación del oído es posible estableciendo una diferencia fundamental entre la audición y la escucha: la audición solo incluye la recepción pasiva del sonido. Por su parte, la escucha consiste en seleccionar la información sensorial para dotarla de sentido.

The following lines offer an approach to the evidence of the effects that music has on living beings and how numerous studies have shown that the therapeutic use of music is an art with centuries of antiquity and that today, at present, constitutes a important resource in the cure of certain diseases.More specifically, we offer a vision of the therapeutic use of the method created by Dr. Alfred Tomatis, whose research led to an authentic revolution in the understanding of hearing and assumed a before and after in the focus of motor, emotional and cognitive disorders; recovering the idea that a reeducation of the ear is possible by establishing a fundamental difference between hearing and listening: hearing only includes the passive reception of sound. In the other hand, listening consists of selecting sensory information to give it meaning.
