Abstract | El presente artículo se adentra en el conflicto que tuvieron los atenienses y los Melios en el año 416 a.C., mediante el cual el imperio ateniense intima a los Melios a concertar una alianza con ellos o a ser destruidos. ... El presente artículo se adentra en el conflicto que tuvieron los atenienses y los Melios en el año 416 a.C., mediante el cual el imperio ateniense intima a los Melios a concertar una alianza con ellos o a ser destruidos. Los Melios respondieron argumentando que debía respetarse su neutralidad con respecto a la disputa que trababan en ese momento los imperios de Esparta y Atenas, máxime si las leyes internacionales garantizaban ese derecho, sin embargo, los atenienses rechazaron discutir la Justicia de sus demandas o cualquier otro argumento. Así pues los Melios lejos de buscar una improbable utilidad común con el poderoso (Atenas) prosiguen su alocada carrera hacia ninguna parte, esto es, hacia su destrucción. |
