Arte y técnica en la era de las tecnologías electrónicas

Abstract

Las relaciones entre arte y técnica (y por lo tanto, el mismo concepto de arte, la percepción estética y las formas de creación artística) se han modificado profundamente con el desarrollo de las tecnologías de Ja información y la comunicación. La tecnología electrónica ya no consiste en operaciones físicas sino cognitivas y epistemológicas, por eso no son prolongaciones instrumentales del cuerpo sino que crean una nueva realidad. Por eso el arte en la era electrónica se construye sobre la base de una nueva concepción de la diferencia entre imaginación y razón, entre ficción y realidad, entre artificial y natural, y finalmente entre virtualidad y realidad.

The relationship between art and technique (and therefore, the very concept of art, esthetic perccption and forms of artistic creation) has been greatly modified with the d evelopment of inforrnation technologies and communication. Electronic technology <loes not consist of physical operations anymore, but rather cognitive and epistemological ones. Because of this, they are not merely instrumental prolongations of the body, rather they create a new reality. For this reason, art, in the electronic era, is constructed on the hase of a new concept of the difference between the irnagination and reason; hetwcen fiction and reality; between the artificial and the natural; and finally, between virtuality and reality.
