Apuntes para el estudio social de la fiesta en España

Abstract

El artículo ofrece una perspectiva para el estado de la cuestión del estudio de la fiesta en España, desde la sociología y la antropología. Se constata cómo tras algunos trabajos pioneros, la fiesta se convierte en objeto legítimo de estudio durante la década de los ochenta y los noventa. Las transformaciones experimentadas por el ritual festivo en condiciones de modernidad se plasman en una diversificación de metodologías y en un viraje epistemológico. Los desplazamientos en el objeto celebrado y la complejidad creciente del sujeto celebrante obligan a repensar conceptos clave, como ritual, tradición o comunidad. Por fin, se plantean algunos de los temas de estudio emergentes, y se señalan algunos vacíos en la bibliografía.

This article offers an insight in the state of affairs of the study of the feast in Spain from a sociological and anthropological perspective. It is stated how the feast has become – after some pioneer research work – a legitimate object of analysis during the decades of the eighties and nineties. The transformation, that the festive ritual was exposed to by modernity, led to a methodological diversification and an epistemological turn. Both, the internal alterations of the object, and the increasing polymorphism of the celebrating subject require to rethink crucial concepts like for example “ritual”, “tradition” or “community”. Finally, some of the important emergent questions in the analysis of the feast are stated and the evident deficiency in its bibliography is remembered.
