Abstract | Algeciras y Ceuta, por su ubicación estratégica, como ciudades que miran al Estrecho de Gibraltar, han tenido desde sus orígenes una fuerte vinculación con su litoral. Pero con el devenir histórico cada una de estas ciudades ... Algeciras y Ceuta, por su ubicación estratégica, como ciudades que miran al Estrecho de Gibraltar, han tenido desde sus orígenes una fuerte vinculación con su litoral. Pero con el devenir histórico cada una de estas ciudades ha tomado un rumbo diferente en cuanto su mirada al mar. Es por ello, que en este trabajo se propone una metodología, aplicable a ciudades de rango medio españolas, que permita conocer la relación actual que tienen estas ciudades con su litoral a través del análisis de la conformación histórico-urbana, las relaciones con el entorno, el medio físico, la situación económica y el grado de implantación de la infraestructura portuaria. Tras el estudio de estas variables que nos permitirán hacer un acercamiento a la interacción actual de estas ciudades con el litoral, analizaremos a través de unidades territoriales la relación de cada una de estas con su frente marítimo. Una vez estudiada de manera individual la interacción ciudad-litoral tanto en Algeciras como en Ceuta, se ponen en consonancia ambas ciudades a través de un análisis comparativo que nos permita ver el diferente rumbo que han tomado cada una de estas ciudades con respecto a la vinculación que tenían históricamente con el frente marítimo. A continuación, se analiza el interfaz ciudad-litoral en ambas ciudades valorando tres factores como son; la accesibilidad al litoral, la permeabilidad visual al mar y el carácter del espacio interfaz. Finalmente se estudia el caso de Barcelona, por ser una ciudad que mantiene una fuerte vinculación con su litoral, y que está buscando continuamente fórmulas que puedan mejorar esta relación |
