La representación de figuras femeninas en los medios de comunicación retrata imágenes coherentes con interpretaciones y visiones colectivas de lo que significa ser mujer. El cine, en particular, actúa como mediador de significados, siguiendo formatos que perpetúan los discursos prevalentes en la sociedad. Un estudio sobre la imagen de la mujer dentro de la estructura universitaria en el cine español ejemplifica los cambios que ha habido en la presentación de la mujer en el cine, y su presencia en la sociedad. El artículo describe como se ha pasado de una presencia estereotipada femenina a un retrato de la mujer ejerciendo roles profesionales más progresistas a partir de los años 80, como el de docente o alumna universitaria. En la actualidad, la interpretación de la identidad no-unitaria postmodernista ha abierto nuevas oportunidades de representación de la mujer. Por un lado, el cine contemporáneo presenta a la mujer como sujeto histórico que adopta papeles centrales y ‘le pasan’ cosas. Sin embargo, un análisis de contenido nos presenta a una mujer universitaria incapaz de desarrollar su potencial, atrapada entre logros intelectuales o su realización en el ámbito privado. Esta narrativa presenta a una mujer dolorosamente incompleta, a la que se le niega la gratificación última de la realización personal. |
