Dos fuentes para recrear la Roma Altoimperial. La matrona de Éfeso y la fiesta de la risa en el "Fellini-Satyricon"

Abstract

Entre las películas más singulares de Fellini, se encuentra su "Fellini-Satyricon". Con ella intenta recrear el mundo romano altoimperial, pero sin seguir literalmente la novela de Petronio. Para conseguirlo utiliza fórmulas muy distintas, como la dos que se estudian en este trabajo. Por un lado, se encuentra uno de los cuentos de la novela original, tratado de manera bastante directa. Por otro, escoge un pasaje de El asno de oro de Apuleyo, conocido como la fiesta de la risa. Libertad y erudición se encuentran no sólo en su elección, sino también en la forma de filmarlo.

“Fellini-Satyricon” is one of the most particular Fellini’s films. The director tries to recreate the Early Imperial Rome period without a literal translation from the Petronius’ novel. This scope is achieved by means of different ways, two of them highlighted in this work. The first one consists in the, nearly, direct interpretation of the original novel. The second one is based on the reinterpretation of a section from the Metamorphoses of Apuleius, known as the feast of the God of laughter. Freedom and erudition are based not only on the subject’s choice but also on the ways of shooting it.
