"Carta a mi madre" de Juan Gelman

Abstract

En este trabajo se estudia Carta a mi madre de Juan Gelman en el marco de la tradición musical del poema libro, con especial atención a dos procedimientos rítmico-estilísticos contrapuntísticos: el encabalgamiento y, sobre todo, el contraste y complemento rítmico entre la línea tipográfica y la división de las barras diagonales. A este respecto, si la línea tipográfica parece sugerir una lectura rítmicamente más libre, aunque siempre dentro del orden endecasilábico, las barras diagonales revelan claramente el general ritmo endecasilábico del poema.

In this study, an analysis is carried out of Juan Gelman ́s "Letter to My Mother", within the musical tradition of the songbook, while paying specific attention to two stylistic-rhythmic contrapuntal procedures: enjambment, on the one hand, and, above all, the rhythmically-based contrast and complementarity between the typographic line as such and the divisions via diagonal bars. In this regard, if the line, typographically speaking, seems to give rise to a freer rhythmical pattern, although always within the hendecasyllabic domain, the diagonal bars clearly reveal the composition’s overall hendecasyllabic rhythm.
