El héroe, tal y como lo conocíamos, ya no encuentra su sitio en la ficción. Las producciones actuales, tanto televisivas como cinematográficas, vienen lideradas por una figura ambigua, compuesta por luces, pero sobretodo, por sombras: el antihéroe.
Los primeros personajes anti-heroicos encuentran su origen siglos atrás, en la literatura, siendo posteriormente adoptados por la industria cinematográfica, que no ha mostrado una clara predilección por estos protagonistas hasta bien entrados los años 70 y 80.
Es preciso señalar que existen tantas clases de antihéroes como defectos tiene el ser humano. No obstante, en el presente estudio analizaremos en profundidad los arquetipos más empleados por Hollywood y reduciremos la clasificación a cuatro grandes bloques: el psicópata, el canalla, el desencantado y el perdedor.
De los cuatro grupos propuestos, en los tres primeros observaremos, en distinto grado, una peligrosa proximidad a la villanía. Los tres encarnan figuras que, desde el punto de vista de la moral más pura, resultarían despreciables, pero que paradójicamente no sólo conectan con el espectador, sino que producen en él una tremenda fascinación. Abordaremos desde un punto de vista psicológico y sociológico las razones de ese extraño magnetismo que poseen los personajes imperfectos, con la intención de cercar algo más este asunto sobre el que no hemos hallado una excesiva investigación previa, aproximándonos a la clave del éxito actual de la figura anti-heroica.
