Se presenta una revisión sobre el papel que las Tecnologías de la Información Geográfica (TIG) poseen en Geografía, a partir de su aportación conceptual, del impacto que tienen en la investigación, en la docencia y en el ejercicio profesional. Se concluye que estas tecnologías deberían considerarse como parte del núcleo central de la Geografía, ya que los geógrafos tienen un destacado protagonismo en su desarrollo, forman parte de las principales tradiciones conceptuales en Geografía, y cuentan con una marcada proyección profesional. |
